Synopsis

Vineesh Malhotra, a very wealthy business tycoon, arrives in Karnatika, and is given Government security, which means a team of Police Oficers, CCB Officers Shrujan, Manju Gowda and Mahesh Shetty, led by CCB Officer Parashuram (Darshan). Vineesh says he does not need them, he has his own Security team: however, they attack him, and it is only by the quick thinking of Parashuram, and the action of the whole team, that Vineesh survives this atack. He gives Parashuram a card with his private number, and says that if he ever needs anything, he has to phone him ? and that for the rest of his life, he will be there to help Parashuram if ever he is in need. At this time, Parashuram?s girl friend, Geeta (Deepika Kamaiah) and her sister Amruta are about to leave Karnataka to go to Switzerland for a guitar audition, much against the wishes of Parashuram, who fears for the safety of the two young girls travelling alone. But Geeta will no listen to him, and for some reason, she and her family do not want to have anything to do with him.
The girls arrive in Switzerland, and Arvind, an Indian lad speaks to them in Kannada, telling them that he is a Software Engineer, and that Switzerland is expensive, and that they should share a taxi. They go at first to the house that they are staying in, in Bern, a house owned by people the girls know, but who are away from home at the time. Shortly after, some thugs break in and try to kidnap the girls. Geeta phones Parashuram for help. He tells her to hide under the bed, to leave the phone switched on, and to describe the kidnappers so that he can hear what they look like. He listens as Geeta is carried away. He and his colleagues go to Geeta?s house to inform her parents ? they tell them that the girls have been kidnapped, to be drugged, and sold into prostitution. He decides to set off for Switzerland, but there is no flight for four hours. It is at this point that he calls Vineesh for help, and flies in his private jet to Switzerland.
In the plane we have a flashback to six months earlier. Parshuram is sitting one day with his Police friends, in plain clothes, when a lad rums past holding a lady?s handbag. He is being chased by a girl, who yells ?thief?. Parashuram takes off in pursuit of the lad, and catches him. The girl, Geeta, is grateful, when she catches up with them. However, Parashuram falls in love with the girl, and then he runs off with the bag, leaving Geeta to think he is also a thief. It turns out that she had been chasing her brother, Vishwa, who had stolen her bag. He is a college student, who has been debarred from attending college for one year, and is into drugs. Geeta has helped bring him up like he was her son, not her brother, and she will do anything for him, and regularly gives him money. Then Geeta receives a parcel in the post: it is her handbag, intact, with nothing missing. Parashuram befriends her ? and then she gets him to steal a pair of pink sandals from Nimmi, her guitar teacher. She had wanted to buy the shoes, but her guitar teacher had bought them first.
They become good friends, despite the fact that she still thinks he is a thief, and does not realise he is a CCB Officer. One day (it is his Birthday) he takes her to meet his ?mother? ? but she is the midwife who delivered him as a baby. When he was young his parents died, and this is whom he regards as his mother (she has no children of her own).
In Switzerland, he enlists the help of Yashas Surya, an Indian who is an officer in the Swiss Police (who tells him that Marco, the leader of the gang, and some gang members, are Indian), and a female interpreter who says she can translate into English or any Indian language: she is not Indian, and has never been to India. The rest of the film is about his search for the two girls, Geeta and her sister. We also learn later in the film why Geeta and her family had wanted nothing to do with him, when the girls were leaving for Switzerland.

Review:

Darhsan fans will not be disappointed by this movie, in which he plays the part of a tough Police officer. There is romance and comedy when he falls in love with a girl (well played by Deepika Kamaiah in her first role). The film becomes a Thriller, with Action and Drama when he goes off to Switzerland, to rescue her when she is kidnapped. So it?s got all the ingredients to make an excellent film ? which it is! Most of the scenes shot in Switzerland were in the city of Bern.

The songs are interesting and varied. We start with Yaarigo yaarigo, which is almost like an Item Song, but which introduces Parashuram (Darshan), who is ?Chingari? (?Spark?).?Gamanava seluva is a love song beautifully choreographed in the open countryside, with very colourful costumes. Kaiyya kacchasuda starts off with a magic carpet, then Aladdin?s magic lamp, and has a big dance company in a fantasy setting. In Baare baare Parashuram sings of his loneliness without Geeta.

[Please don?t take this next bit too seriously: it in no way spoils the film. There is one flaw in the dialogue. The interpreter tells him that she can translate from, or into ?Swiss?. Swiss is not a language. Switzerland is a country that has four languages ? German (in several different dialects in different parts of the country), French, Italian and Romansh (a language spoken in certain mountain areas, and around St. Moritz, a popular tourist resort in the Engadine). I would have thought they would have got it right for the film. Also, I find it difficult to believe that any one person can translate into any Indian language (there are 34 well known languages, and a total of 1,652 languages were found in the Census of 1991), and particularly if that person has never been in India. However, none of this really matters, and it certainly does not spoil this five-star film, which is well worth watching.]
